Paris, September 09th, 2008: French business district 'La Défense' celebrates its 50th anniversary. For the occasion, a show with fireworks took place at the bottom of the 'Grande Arche'.

They are illegal immigrants,
They have been working in France since many years,
They pay taxes as any French citizen does,
But they do not have the same rights and often live with fear because without identity papers it’s hard to live serenely.
They claim identity papers to stop leaving with the fear of been reconducted in their birth country,
They claim identity papers to improve their living conditions in a country which is today their country,
But French Government said no to a massive regularisation of their situation.
This is the daily fight of the so-called ‘sans papiers’

Paris, April 10, 2008: French pupils are in the
street to protest against the suppression of 8.830 jobs in the National Education sector planned for next year. A high security level has been deployed for the occasion all along the
demonstration's route. During the whole defile, a small group of teenagers had a provocative attitude towards the police forces and threw projectiles at them.

The Olympic torch relay in Paris has been cut short after protests by anti-China demonstrators. The flame had been extinguished several times by security forces after repeated clashes with
pro-Tibet and human rights campaigners.

From 13 to 17 February 2008 Paris is the destination of the internationally touring multimedia exhibition, organised by Darfur/Darfur Association, highlighting the crisis and culture of Darfur (Sudan). During this week, 150 photos taken by worldwide known photographers (Brian Steidle, Hélène Caux, Mark Brecke, Paulo Pellegrin, Lynsey Addario, Ron Haviv/VII, Ryan Spencer Reed and Michal Ronnen Safdie) will be projected in the Trocadéro garden on a large screen of 15 x 4 meters (from 13 to 17 February 2008 : from 6 p.m. to midnight).

On 22 November 2007, French students are in the streets to protest against LRU (Liberté et Responsabilité des Universités), a law by the French Minister of Education Valérie Pécresse, aiming at expanding French public universities autonomy and
considered by students as a kind of privatisation of education which might lead to a discrediting of its quality.

Paris in a Blog is a vision by a French photographer about this magical city and its current events as well : many topics are mentioned, such as culture, politics , sports or any social
aspect.
This blog is dedicated to all French people interested in what happens in their capital and, because it particularly aims at developing an international audience, it is also destined to other
people far from the city, who want to keep informed of what happens there, which explains why it is written only in English.
I would like to make a special thank to Ophi, Oji and Foxy for
their help in teaching me the bases of CSS rules to build this blog.
To conclude, I dedicate the blog to my mother, who was a Paris lover.
